Swamp?

I have no pictures for this entry, because I didn't take any. Most of you know the person that lives next to us is a landscape architect. He has built a MASSIVE garden/ flower bed in his front yard. So, when our yard was not draining properly, we attributed it to the fact that he lined his garden on our side with rocks and the yard would not properly drain. He decided to put in a french drain between our yards, and we wen't and bought some rock to help spruce up our curb appeal. Needless to say, Steve and Jason (neighbor) started digging the hole for the french drain and it kept filling up with water. After digging a few holes around our house and flower bed, we realized that a "drainage problem" was the least of our concerns. We were losing water from underneath our house at a rate of 20 gallons per hour, and that was with all of the water turned off!! We called a plumber and he said that they would have to come out and find out where it was coming from and to just turn it off at the manifold in Jillian's closet in the meantime. So, everytime we needed water or had to flush the toilet we had to turn the water on and off at the manifold. Long story short, we called the builder and he took care of the cost of all the repairs including replacing the drywall that got cut out. Now all of our cold water has been re-routed thru the attic. All the pipes were insulated and put underneath the insulation in our attic, and since we live in Oklahoma, I'm not too worried. The sad thing is, is that our bills are on averaging, and after looking back at the bills, this had been going on since February and we just didn't notice becuase our bills didn't change. Can't wait to see what the new averaging will be! UGGHH! Oh the benefits of owning your own home!
