Just my mouse

This conversation took place between Jillian and myself last night, and I thought it was just too funny not to post!
The Set-Up: We (Jillian, Abby and me) were sitting on Jillian's bed doing their literacy homework and Jillian fell to the side and bumped her head hard on the wall.

Me: "oh, are you OK? Did that hurt?"
J: "Nope it didn't even hurt"
Me: (I was rubbing her head and said "is there nothing in there to hurt?"
J: "Nope, just my little mouse"
Me: (laughing)"Is he running on his little mouse wheel in there?"
J: (serious) "Yes"

At this point Abby and I are just laughing hysterically! Later she told me that there was an ant in there too.
I finally asked her if there was room in there for her brain. She just looked at me with this blank expression on her face. priceless conversations with a 4 year old!
And that's why I love my job, folks!

Don't Quit your day job

What do you get when a computer programmer is your soccer coach? Check this out. You'll have to keep checking back for more updated pictures, but I thought it was a pretty neat way to keep all the parents informed. Beat that!

Coach Kumor

Well, we told both of the girls that they could play soccer this fall. We never got a call from the Y, so we called them. Neither one of the girls had a coach for their team (they are arranged by age). Steve told them that he would coach, but he couldn't coach both teams and he wanted both girls to be able to play. Their solution? Put Jillian on Abby's team and make Steve the coach. Hello, come again? My little 28 pound 4 year old with a bunch of 6 year olds? Steve's reply, "she can hold her own". No doubt she can! They had one practice before their 1st game last Saturday, and our team won! I don't know the exact score, but it was something like 20-1. Our team played like champs and Steve is an awesome coach. He is fair to al the kids, giving high 5's when they get a goal and some kids even hugged him when they got a goal. It was so cute! I would have had more pictures, but my camera battery died about 3 minutes after I got there. Jillian is in the pig tails and Abby has the black and pink cleats on. We play again this Saturday and I think it will be the highlight of my day. It is so fun to cheer my 3 kids on! :)

Sick Day

Well, we spent the first few days of last week either in the ER (I know, not new for us)or the Dr. office. Abby started having really bad stomach cramps in the middle of the night on Sunday. She woke us up atleast 3 times with crying and holding her stomach. Monday morning she was not any better so we took her to the Dr. he pushed on her tummy and said that it was probably a virus. She didn't have any other symptoms except nausea and the horrible stomach pains. We went home and I tried to ease her pain as much as possible, but they were getting worse. We ended up calling the Dr. that night and then realized that she had not gone potty since 9AM (over 12 hours ago). We got sent straight to the ER. After spending 4 hours there and still having 4 people in front of us, Abby finally had to go potty. She peed a ton (not literally) and then started taking fluids without pain and so we decided to go home. The Dr. called in the morning while I was taking Jillian to Sonshine School and asked how Abby was doing. Steve took the day off to catch up on sleep and to help out. He told the Dr. that she was doing better and taking fluids, no more worries about dehydration. He no sooner got off the phone and Abby threw up. We called the Dr. back and he said he wanted to see her again. She kept saying that her pain was more on the right side. That got us sent to the lab for a blood draw to rule out appendicitis. It turned out that she was still dehydrated, but her blood count was OK (yea...no surgery!). He called in some anti-nausea meds for us to give her and try to get some fluids in her. He said he would call back in 1 hour and if she was not doing better we had to come back for IV fluids. Luckily she started drinking and the meds helped.
I was so far behind on work that I spent the rest of the week catching up, but I'm glad that my baby didn't have to have surgery. Abby was excited that she got 2 new teddy bears. One from the ER and one from the lab people. Let's just say that if they never have to stick a needle in my child's arm again, it will be too soon!
