Update

I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted. We have been really busy these past few weeks. Steve's parents were in town the week after Labor Day and we had a great time with our family. I believe I have a few pictures on the camera and I will try to post them. I am done with training on my new job and now no longer have to go to the actual office to pick up files. I can code them right from my own home! YEA! I absolutely LOVE working from home! The last couple of weeks have not been so fun, however. 1 1/2 weeks ago I broke my big toe on my right foot. I didn't realize it at first, I thought that I just jammed it real good. How did I break it you ask? Well, those of you that know me well will not be surprised, here's the story. The girls and I were coming home from church on Wednesday night and the song Bohemian (sp?) Rhapsody came on the radio. As most of you know (that grew up in the 80's anyway) there is a great headbanging section in the song. We were stopped at a stop light and I showed the girls how to headbang. They were so excited. We also had to stop in the middle of the road to let 2 deer cross the street on the way home. This was so exciting that we ran in the house to tell Daddy. The girls ran ahead of me and I being the crazy lady that I am, decided to prance across the living room.(that's right I said prance like a little fairy!) When I did this very graceful prance, the graceful Cheryl caught her big toe on the carpet and since I had my weight on the left foot, I still had to come down and put my weight on the right foot with the big toe turned under. Yep, you guessed it, it hurt!!! I still went to Sonshine school the following day and my toe hurt alot (just ask Leann). By Saturday it hurt so bad that I could barely keep my shoe on and my toe was throbbing. Steve took me to the Urgent care clinic to get pain meds because I was still sure that I had not broken it. X-rays came back, I fractured it right at the joint. This is only tragic because in 3 weeks I go to Las Vegas to compete with the Sweet Adelines Internationally. I am on the front row where they do the most choregraphy and I need to be able to wear a character shoe. The Dr. said that I will probably be OK by then, but I get to wear a lovely post-op velcro shoe for 2 weeks.
On another note, I was taking the girls to school and Sonshine school this last Tuesday when Jillian threw up in the car. I had just buckled her in so of course she sprayed the car seat. I took her and her car seat out and sent Abby to school with Leann. This was about 8:40 in the morning. I knew that a virus was going around and that Jilly would probably feel better in a couple of days. At about 11:00 Jillian was still throwing up, but this time instead of throwing up in our colored throw up bowl, she threw up in the toilet. That's when I saw it, small streaks of blood in her vomit. I called the Dr. and got in to see him. He gave us a suppository of medicine that should work and if she still threw up on that then I would need to go to the ER in the evening to get her some fluids. I gave her the medicine and at 8:45 she was still thowing up every 45 min to an hour, at this point she was pretty listless. We took her to the ER just to get some IV fluids in her and she still threw up even when she had the IV. They ran more anti nausea meds in her and she finally stopped. They did blood work on her and it was so bad that they decided to keep her over night. We got a room about 4 in the morning. To make a long story short, we had a rough time. We had to run tests to check for diabeties because for a while her blood sugar was all over the place. We tested for strep 2 different ways, both negative. It was finally decided that she just had a bad virus that her body just couldn't get on top of. We spent 2 days in the hospital, but are home now and doing good. Boy, that was scary. So, if you have wondered where we have been, this LONG post should catch you up! We are going to the fair on Sunday afternoon and hope to update you after then. Abby has saved her birthday money for 5 months to spend at the Fair! She is so excited! Thank you to everyone that prayed for Jillian and our family while we went thru these last few difficult days! God is good!
