Thanksgiving and Festival of the Lights
This year instead of going to Steve's parents for Thanksgiving, they decided to come to us. We had a great weekend. The only mishap (you know we had to have at least one, Dana), was that on Wednesday night right after they got here and we ate dinner, Abby started crying that her ear hurt. We left to go to Mercy After Hours to get her checked out. As sick as my kids have been this year after regular hours, I'm surprised that we don't have a reserved parking space! We left there with a prescription for double ear infections! We went to Wal-Mart to get the over the counter meds he prescribed then went to Walgreens to fill the Rx. They call us back to say that the medicine is not covered by our insurance. Long story short, we had to wait till 5PM the next night and call back the Dr. at Mercy After Hours to call us in something else. Uggh! We had a great time with Tony and Cecily though and went shopping the day after Thanksgiving and took the kids to see "Enchanted". A friend of ours, Ronnie, came over for Thanksgiving dinner and then played Wii with us for a while. I have to say that Steve's parents got a kick out of the Wii! On Friday night, we packed up the van with my parents and Steve's parents and went to Chickasha to see the Festival of the Lights. We went 3 years ago and decided to make it a family tradition. Since we are usually in Mississippi or Michigan, we don't go until December with my family, but since the parents came here, we took the whole crew. We were looking forward to going earlier so that it wouldn't be so cold...WRONG! We took the kids snowpants, hats, gloves, the whole nine yards so that we wouldn't be cold. The girl's favorite part is the horse drawn carraige ride and the hot chocolate. Everyone always looks at us like we're crazy when we sing christmas carols while on the carraige ride. Could be that most of us have forgotten the melody and end up singing baritone! :( We saw Santa on our way to get hot chocolate and the girls got their picture taken with him. As we were walking inside, Jillian whispered to me "Mom, he's not the real Santa". I have to admit he was kind of scruffy looking, but at least she was polite enough to take her picture and not say it right to his face! :) Hope you all had a great holiday weekend like we did!
